I’m silent. I’m trained. I’m lethal.
My hand skimming down your thigh, my gaze a weapon—I know more ways to kill you than please you.
But you’re not paying for my aim. You’re paying for my control. Bringing you a breath away from ecstasy, watching you beg as I hold back your release, I’ll show you exactly what you’ve been missing. Your hunger is my currency and five thousand is my price. I only have one rule—no repeats, because I’m not for keeps. I’m for sale.
One slow grind and I’ll give you exactly what you paid for.
“A caged bird never flies.”
Grind is the first book I’ve read by Sybil Bartel. From other reviews, I got the feeling this author’s books would be gritty and hyper-sensual with an edge of danger. It was so much more. Yay for another one-click author!
I originally wanted to read this title because of the twist of it. Other books in the series have male escorts, although Dane’s a bit different. He puts many of his skills for sale, and the story’s equally dark and addictive. I couldn’t look away.
Dane’s alpha to the core, dominant to the extreme, and lethal to the max. All things that get me hooked. He finds Irina in his home one night, and she’s running from one of the biggest, baddest arms dealers around. And the dealer’s Irina’s husband.
Irina’s submissive to the bone, and her nature and innocence have been taken advantage of by her husband. It lands her in Dane’s home, realizing she’s hit rock bottom. But Irina’s husband has no intention of cutting Irina loose.
“Your body is a road map of scars.”
My head was worse.
The chemistry is fiery and fierce, the characters dynamic and determined. Dane’s used to flying solo, and he can be a bit grumpy but also so damn possessive and swoony. Irina has a lot of crap to get through, and there’s nothing that shakes her more than Dane’s raw appeal. Then there’s this insane sexual grind that stretches the tension and dayum, is it rough and lusty!
All the while, threats are hanging over both of their heads. The secondary characters were great too. Dane works with (or rather gets stuck working with…because dangerous ALPHA!) some badass guys. I can’t wait to dive into everyone’s stories.
Grind was such a sexy, addictive read. I read it in one sitting, and I’m so ready for more.
Sybil Bartel grew up in Northern California with her head in a book and her feet in the sand. She dreamt of becoming a painter but the heady scent of libraries with their shelves full of books drew her into the world of storytelling. She loves the New Adult genre, but any story about a love so desperately wrong and impossibly beautiful makes her swoon.
Sybil now resides in Southern Florida and while she doesn’t get to read as much as she likes, she still buries her toes in the sand. If she isn’t writing or fighting to contain the banana plantation in her backyard, you can find her spending time with her handsomely tattooed husband, her brilliantly practical son and a mischievous miniature boxer…
Here are ten things you probably really want to know about Sybil.
She grew up a faculty brat. She can swear like a sailor. She loves men in uniform. She hates being told what to do. She can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks her out. Her favorite word is desperate…or dirty, or both—she can’t decide. She has a thing for muscle cars. But never reply on her for driving directions, ever. And she has a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell her husband.
